Our Work
Eagle House, Oxford
-
Project: Fit out of office and support accommodation for the Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance, a mathematical research facility of Oxford University.
The works were to the ground, 2nd and 3rd floors of Eagle House which had recently been constructed to a Cat A level. The project was procured under a two stage tender process in order that the contractor could become an integrated part of the design process. Although the project was traditionally designed, Pencabe had design responsibility for various elements, including the conservatory.
There were two major interesting features of this project.
- Firstly, a Conservatory was installed on the 2nd floor roof terrace to provide additional break out space for the students. Access to the site was very restricted, and the conservatory had to be delivered in small components which were delivered via a 25 tonne mobile crane and assembled on site.
- Secondly, a 48 seater lecture theatre was constructed to the 3rd floor. This was formed from bespoke walnut acoustic Soundsorba partitioning, and required the detailed co-ordination of advanced audio visual installation with both the M&E services and the finishes. One Oxford don remarked at the official opening ceremony (which was officiated by Chris Patten) that this was the finest lecture theatre the University has.

Man Group – Sugar Quay
-
Project: Ongoing fit-out work to their 120,000 sq ft Sugar Quay offices over 10 years either on a design and build or construction management basis. Several floors fitted out twice during that period.
Frequently the fit-out works were made to partly occupied office areas. Therefore construction often had to be programmed around the client to avoid any disruption. This was only possible in some instances by extensive night and weekend working. - Value: over £3,000,000

Knight Frank LLP
Pencabe have enjoyed a good ongoing relationship with Knight Frank. We fitted out many of their offices in London and the Home Counties on a roll-out programme. The projects have been procured either on a traditional tendered basis, or more recently on a negotiated design and build basis. We worked in conjunction with the Knight Frank novated architect and Knight Frank's specialist sub-contractors, but we were fully responsible for the project delivery.
Projects included offices at: One Canada Square and Cabolt Square in Canary Wharf, Belgravia, Berkhamsted, Wimbledon, Oxford, and Kings Road Chelsea.

Considerate Constructors Scheme
We take great care to minimise any disruption from our work to our clients and the public. To reflect our concern in this area we register the majority of our sites with the Considerate Constructors Scheme. The Scheme's Web site describes its purpose as follows:
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is the national initiative, set up by the construction industry, to improve its image.
Sites that register with the Scheme sign up and are monitored against a Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.
The Scheme is concerned about any area of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole. The main areas of concern fall into three main categories: the environment, the workforce and the general public.
The very best performing sites are recognised with Annual National Awards.
H4
Our colleagues at H4 produce fabulous 3D visualisations of your designs, so you can see what the build will look like and even navigate around it during the design stage. This means there's no unpleasant surprises when the job is finished. Of course, we can still do it in the traditional way with colour sketches and finishes boards if you prefer.
